Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials on Thursday arrested Revenue Inspector (RI) of Motu Circle in Malkangiri district Suraj Chandra Bala for demanding and taking bribe.
According to an official press release, Bala was apprehended by Vigilance sleuths while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a person (complainant) for issuance of notice for appearance in an Encroachment Case registered against him.
The entire bribe money was recovered from accused Bala and seized. Following the trap, Vigilance officials have launched simultaneous searches at two locations of Bala from disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
Vigilance has registered a case under section 7 of the PC Amendment Act against Bala. Further investigation in the matter is under progress.
