Bhubaneswar: In view of the recent uptick in cold, cough, and fever cases, surveillance and testing for Covid-19 have been increased in Odisha.
“In the present context when cases of cold, cough and fever are rising, we have expedited surveillance and also increased testing. We are following the same process as we were doing at the time of Covid– surveillance for ILI (influenza-like illness) and SARI (severe acute respiratory infections) cases, identifying symptomatic cases and providing treatment as required,” informed Director of Health Services, Dr Bijay Mohapatra.
Dr Mohapatra said that surveillance activities have never been stopped, it has been continuing and neither the WHO nor the Government of India has said that Covid is gone.
He said that since there has been an increase in cases, the Director of Public Health has issued instructions for increased surveillance for ILI and SARI and increased testing.
“We have sufficient quantities of required medicines and oxygen-the most vital of which we have no scarcity,” he added.
