Bhubaneswar: Amid the hullabaloo over the months-long mysterious death of engineering student Ashutosh Mohanty alias Rishi and its alleged link with the sex video scandal in which Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananata Narayan Jena has allegedly been embroiled, the Twin City Commissionerate Police on Saturday received the viscera and post mortem reports of Rishi.

Informing media on the day, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said, “We have received the viscera and postmortem reports and the content is being examined by the investigation officer (IO). We’ll seek the final opinion of doctors to know the exact cause of death,” adding, “The content of the report can’t be disclosed.”

The DCP also said that taking into consideration various aspects of the case, more people will be brought under the purview of investigation.

“In a bid to gather more evidence, police will give adequate protection to those who are willing to provide more information,” the DCP announced.

Notably, the statement of the DCP came in the wake of an alleged threat call received by a friend of Rishi on Friday.

That friend of Rishi had claimed before media on Thursday that there is a link between the controversial sex video and the mysterious death of Rishi and revealed on Friday that he has received phone calls from unknown numbers on his cell phone threatening his life.

Notably, police have so far questioned eight friends of Rishi over the incident.

Besides, Rishi’s mother Pritirani Mohanty has lodged a fresh complaint with the Khandagiri police on December 18 seeking to expedite probe into her son’s mysterious death. She has urged the police to bring her dead son’s friends, roommates and the so-called girlfriend in the loop of the ongoing investigation.

Notably, Rishi died on May 6 this year under mysterious circumstances.

Worth mentioning, Opposition parties have been baying for the scalp of Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena over his alleged link in the murder case due to the controversial sex video.

On Saturday evening, BJP Mahila Morcha of the State unit took out a candle rally demanding the Mayor’s resignation.

The candle rally was led by BJP leader Lekhasri Samantsinghar which started from Master Canteen Chhak till the Odisha Assembly here in the capital city.

Congress has already launched its indefinite dharna before the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office here since Friday demanding CBI probe and also the resignation of the Mayor.
