Bhubaneswar: Though most of the rivers in the State barring Vamsadhara are flowing below the danger level, the Water Resources Department is fully prepared to tackle the situation in case of any eventuality.
“All rivers are flowing below the danger mark except one Vamsadhara which is flowing a little above the danger mark. The water level in almost all our rivers from Khairmal to Mahanadi is below the danger level. It all depends on rain. If it rains heavily, our Department is vigilant, we will hold meetings and if such a situation arises we are prepared and will take appropriate action. There is no such possibility right now,” commented Water Resources Minister Tukuni Sahu.
Sahu stated that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik believes in ‘zero casualty’ and every life is important for him therefore our Department is fully geared to tackle any situation if it so arises.
“From now up to December we have to remain prepared against both possible floods and cyclones. District administrations, ODRAF and Fire Service are prepared for these,” informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena.
