Rayagada: The Regional Medical and Research Centre (RMRC) has diagnosed the diarrhoea causing bacteria in Kashipur block of Rayagada district as Vibrio Cholera.
District Collector Swadha Dev Singh informed that the RMRC has submitted the report after examining the samples. Adequate measures have been taken to control the disease.
She informed that the treatment protocol has been activated. While ASHA and Anganwadi workers are distributing medicines in the affected villages, a helpline number has also been issued for emergency purposes.
Some villages of Kashipur are on river bank and as per reports, the river water and the ground water is contaminated. The water source has been isolated for decontamination.
In the meantime, drinking water is being supplied in the affected villages through water tanker two to three times a day, added Singh.
