Bhubaneswar: Road repair work across Cuttack and Bhubaneswar will be completed before the upcoming Puja season, assured Law and Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Wednesday.
A high-level meeting has been scheduled for September 6, which will be attended by all MLAs from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, Mayors, Commissioners, and senior officials of the Public Works Department (PWD). The roadmap for road repair works will be finalized during the meeting.
“All repair work will be completed by September 20 to ensure smooth travel for citizens and visitors during the festive period,” the Minister said.
Meanwhile, the Shree Jagannatha Temple Managing Committee has decided to implement queue-based darshan at the shrine after relocating the hundi (donation box). A proposal in this regard will be submitted to the state government. The relocation will proceed once approved by the Chief Minister, with the target of introducing the new darshan system by September 15, Harichandan informed.
On the issue of the Rath Yatra mishap report, the Law Minister clarified that the current government would not suppress any inquiry findings. He stated that Development Commissioner Anu Garg has already submitted the report, which will be published soon.
The Minister further remarked that while the previous government had kept 23 reports suppressed, the present administration would ensure transparency and swift action.
With these measures, the state government has underlined its dual focus on ensuring better civic preparedness for the festive season and transparent governance in temple administration and related matters.
