Baripada: A robbery attempt at the branch of a Manapuram gold finance company failed in Baripada town in a broad day after the centre’s alarm went off.
According to reports, the employees opened the gate of the bank branch office and entered at around 9 am on Wednesday. Two unidentified persons suddenly barged into the office and assaulted the staff.
Three more miscreants reached there and attacked the staff at gunpoint, triggering panic. They threatened the employees at gunpoint and asked them to hand over the gold jewelry and money.
At that time, one of the employees pressed the bank’s safety switch under the table. The assailants fled from the scene after the siren went off.
The staff lodged a written complaint at the Baripada town police station. The activities of the miscreants were captured in CCTV of the office.
The employees said that the robbers were speaking in Odia.
Police launched an inquiry after examining the CCTV footage.
