Bhubaneswar: A 65-year-old man was trampled to death when he had gone to his paddy field to shoo away the wild animals.
The deceased has been identified as Prafulla Sahu, a resident of Nalchandrapur village under Santari Panchayat.
As per reports, the elephant, reportedly from a nearby forest, had been ravaging crops in the area. Sahu, upon finding his paddy crop destroyed by an elephant, went to shoo it away. Tragically, the elephant attacked, causing his death.
Following Sahu’s death, tensions ran high at the locality with residents demanding compensation for his family. On a tip-off, police and forest officials rushed to the spot and calmed the situation by promising compensation for the victim’s family.
