Bhubaneswar: Following the arrests of two Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and their grilling here at Odisha’s capital city taking them on remand to unearth their unholy nexus with the blacklisted Rose Valley chit fund firm, BJP on Friday alleged that the ruling BJD, led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has links with the multi-crore chit fund scam as Rose Valley CMD Goutam Kundu has been caught on camera presenting a cheque to the Odisha Chief Minister.

Convening a press meet here at the party’s State headquarters, Sameer Mohanty, Vice President, BJP, Odisha said, “Ruling BJD’s link with Rose Valley chit fund scam is a glaring instance in view of the photograph depicting Rose Valley CMD Goutam Kundu presenting a cheque to the Chief Minister. Besides on July 20, BJD party leaders had held discussion with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee pertaining to Biju Centenary celebration in Kolkata. Accordingly, ruling BJD Chief Whip Ananta Das, Supplies Minister Sanjay Das Burma and BJD general secretary-cum-Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra had met her. We also seek disclosure from them on their further meetings with other persons there.”

On the contrary, Rabi Narayan Nanda, Spokesperson, BJD defended, “In political life, meetings of different persons with each other happen. But we should not reach at a conclusion that the meeting has got some mala fide intent or ulterior motive. I suspect of the discussion going on. When Rose Valley issue cropped up, no one from BJD has got any relationship with any criminal. If at all anyone from our party would have met earlier with Rose Valley functionary, he would have been ignorant of the antecedence. Keeping an eye on the Panchayat elections, the opposition is resorting to such a drama. The charges are absolutely false and baseless. It is a mere publicity stunt.”
