Bhubaneswar: Rourkela-based social worker Muktikanta Biswal has ascended a billboard at Sishu Bhavan square and is threatening to set himself afire, reasoning that the demands of his people and region remain unfulfilled.
Biswal, who shot to fame for his marathon to Bhubaneswar to meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has climbed atop a high structure protesting the indifference of the State Government towards his demands.
The youth is screaming from a height asking fire service personnel not to attempt a rescue. “I am completely demoralised and lost all hope. Our demands remain unheard and I will end my life,” he said.
According to the information, the social activist was denied permission to meet the Chief Minister over various pending projects. He covered a distance of around 500 kms to meet the CM and put forth the demands.
The 34-year-old activist remains on the top of a billboard with a bottle of an inflammable liquid in his hands. Meanwhile, the Sishu Bhavan Square has turned into a fortress with rescue personnel attempting to bring him down.
