Bhubaneswar: After a four-hour long operation by Fire Service personnel with the help of police rescued activist Muktikant Biswal of Rourkela, who had climbed atop a billboard here to protest the indifference of the State Government towards his demands.
Firemen rescued Biswal from atop the high structure of the billboard safely by managing to reach him with the help of a fire truck ladder. He was rushed to Capital Hospital for a health check-up.
Biswal had ascended a billboard at Sishu Bhavan square and was threatening to set himself afire, reasoning that the demands of his people and region remain unfulfilled.
He had walked all the way from Rourkela to Bhubaneswar to meet the Chief Minister and ask him as to why the projects promised by the Chief Minister earlier have not been completed in Steel City.
Reportedly, the activist was denied permission to meet the Chief Minister over various pending projects.
The 34-year-old activist had climbed atop a billboard with a bottle of an inflammable liquid in his hands.
It is pertinent to mention here that Biswal had met the Chief Minister in 2018 while the latter had promised to complete some projects including a bridge over Koel river and Ring Road in the Steel City.
