Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance today arrested Rourkela Assistant Collector Manoranjan Nayak in disproportionate assets (DA) case.
Following his arrest Nayak has been forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh, said an official press note.
Vigilance officials have unearthed assets worth approximately Rs 2 crore during house search of Nayak.
Based on an allegation of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income against Nayak, five teams of the Vigilance conducted searches at five places in Jajpur, Sundargarh, and Khordha districts.
During house searches the Vigilance has so far unearthed one triple storeyed building at Rourkela, the present market value of the building is around Rs 75 Lakh; one double-storeyed building at Rourkela, the present market value of the building is around Rs 35 lakh; one 3 BHK Flat at Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar, the present market value of the building is more than Rs 50 Lakh; 2 four-wheelers (Hyundai Creta & Volkswagen Polo) and 1 two-wheeler; Bank and other deposits, gold, cash and other movable and immovable properties, all totaling to approx Rs 2 Crore.
The Vigilance suspects Nayak to have created benami assets in name of his relatives which is under verification.
The Vigilance has registered a case against Nayak and his younger brother under section 13(2) read with 13 (1)(b)/12 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act-2018.
Further investigation in the case is in progress.
