Rourkela’s Muktikant Biswal Detained By Delhi Police

**New Delhi:** The 30-year-old Rourkela man Mukktikanta Biswal, who was sitting on an agitation infront of Jantar Mantar in Delhi since 8 am today, has been detained by the police.

Biswal, who was seeking an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi after trekking 1,400 kms from Rourkela to Delhi, had launched an indefinite hunger strike today.

According to sources, Biswal did not have necessary permissions from the administration for the agitation because of which Delhi police intervened and broke the strike.

Biswal had walked upto the National Capital to meet Modi and “remind him of the promises to setup Rourkela Medical College and super-specialty hospital.” After failing to get an appointment with the Prime Minister, the activist sat on a dharna.

He had also met Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram and apprised him of his demands. Oram however, had dismissed Biswal’s demands, dubbing it as a ‘sponsored protest’ by the opposition parties.
