Bhubaneswar: A crucial meeting will be held today under the chairmanship of the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) to discuss the controversy surrounding the the naming of the Jagannath temple at Digha in West Bengal as Digha Jagannath Dham.
According to sources, the meeting is scheduled for 5 pm today. Key officials, including Badagrahis, Maharana, Deula Karan, and Patojoshi Mohapatra, will attend the meeting to address the issue and work towards a resolution.
Apart from its naming as Digha Jagannath Dham, Jagannath devotees residing in Odisha have expressed resentment over the use of surplus neem wood from the Nabakalebar ritual for the construction of idols at Digha Jagannath temple.
As per reports, the meeting comes after the Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan has instructed SJTA Chief Administrator Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee to investigate the matter and bring the truth to light. The Minister stated that the controversy has hurt the sentiments of the Jagannath devotees across Odisha.
