Bhubaneswar: A Royal Bengal Tiger cub succumbed to illness on Wednesday at the Nandankanan Zoological Park, located on the outskirts of the city.
The cub had been undergoing treatment since Sunday after falling ill. Despite efforts by the zoo’s veterinary team, the cub could not be saved.
According to reports, tigress Rupa gave birth to four cubs on November 2 last year. Sadly, one of these cubs passed away today. In light of the incident, authorities have intensified monitoring of the remaining cubs through CCTV surveillance to ensure their well-being.
Currently, the Nandankanan Zoo is home to 27 tigers, including both adults and cubs.
