Baripada: A total of Rs 1.4 lakh was stolen from the boot of a scooter on Baisinga-Rupsa road in Mayurbhanj district on Monday.
Reportedly, Rabi Narayan Panda of Baisinga had withdrawn Rs 3 lakh from a bank and had kept the money in his scooter’s boot. He halted on Baisinga-Rupsa road and took out Rs 1.5 lakh to pay the owner of Biswakarma Traders.
As the remaining Rs 1.5 lakh was in the scooter’s boot, some miscreants who were following him from the bank, were able to open the scooter’s boot and stole the money. In the rush, they left behind Rs 10,000.
The whole incident has been captured on a CCTV camera. Meanwhile, Baisinga Police have initiated a probe into the matter.
