Bhubaneswar: A day after Seji Singh, son of Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja, was arrested in connection with a fight at a cinema hall in Kantabanji in Odisha’s Bolangir district, police recovered cash worth Rs 19 lakh and a large quantity of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from the accused’s gym on Thursday.
It is worth mentioning here that after his arrest on Wednesday, Seji was booked under Sections 384, 506, and 353 of IPC and relevant Sections of the Arms Act. However, the police are yet to recover the gun from his possession.
Seji was booked on charges of an alleged fight at a cinema hall in Kantabanji of Bolangir district. He allegedly pointed a gun and tried to spread terror while the cops tried to pacify him. A video of the whole incident has gone viral on social media.
Following the arrest, police conducted raids at Seji’s gym and seized Rs 19 lakh in cash and the accused reportedly failed to give a satisfactory answer as to why he was keeping so much cash in his gym.
The police team also laid their hands on 17 litres of branded liquors during the raid.
“He has been taken to local CHC for a medical check-up following which he will be produced before the court,” said a police official.
Earlier, Santosh Singh Saluja had a heated argument with Bolangir District Collector Chanchal Rana during a Zilla Parishad meeting over the alleged slashing of funds under different programmes in his constituency.
