Bhubaneswar: On the very first day of its 10-day Special Covid Enforcement Drive, the Odisha Police has acted against 9,400 violators of mask usage and social distancing rules.
Police have collected a fine of Rs 25,07,900 from the violators in the last 24 hours, the Odisha Police has informed through its official Twitter handle.
As many as 136 platoons of the police force have been engaged in the entire State to intensify Covid enforcement measures. District SP/ DCPs and senior officers are leading the drive, the tweet added.
Odisha Police have urged all to observe Covid appropriate behaviour.
Worth mentioning, concerned over the resurgence of Covid-19 in different other States and the increasing trend in the number of infections in the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to launch a 10-day special drive throughout the State to contain the spread of Covid-19.
