Bhubaneswar: Delhi Police apprehended three persons from Balasore’s Soro area in connection with a jewellery theft case worth over Rs 50 lakh in South Delhi’s Saket area.
The accused, identified as Jitendra Mallick (28), Dilip Kumar Sahu (49), and Srikanta Mallick (51), were arrested with the help of the Sorada police.
The mastermind behind the theft, Jitendra Mallick, a 28-year-old resident of Raghunathpur village in Sorada, was working in a businessman’s house in Saket. Taking advantage of the absence of the homeowner, Jitendra stole jewellery and cash worth over Rs 50 lakhs and fled.
Saket police registered a case on the basis of a complaint filed by the Delhi-based businessman and launched an investigation, which led to Jitendra’s arrest from his home. Further investigation revealed that Jitendra had sold the stolen jewellery to a dealer, Dilip Kumar Sahu of Iram area, and another individual, Srikanta Mallick of Bagada village, was also involved in the crime.
Police recovered Rs 6,49,000 cash, two gold-plated wristwatches, and a gold pen from the accused. Jitendra, Dilip, and Srikanta were arrested and are being taken to Delhi for further investigation and interrogation.
