Rs 57,000 Fake Currency Notes Seized, Railways Employee Arrested

Jharsuguda: Brajrajnagar police have arrested a Railways employee on Monday and have seized fake currency notes of Rs 57,000 face value from his possession.

The accused identified as Raman Kumar Rajak works at the Brajrajnagar railway station as a clerk.

Rajak has been forwarded to court today following his arrest subsequent to the seizure of 114 pieces of fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination from his rented house at Brajrajnagar.

“We had information on circulation of fake currency notes in the area in which a Railways employee was involved, who has been identified as Raman Kumar Rajak. He works as a clerk at the Brajrajnagar railway station,” informed Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police (SP) Bikash Chandra Das.

Das said that police have seized 114 numbers of forged Rs 500 currency notes having a face value of Rs 57,000 from Razak’s house yesterday and he has been arrested.

A case has been registered against him at the Brajrajnagar police station under sections 489A, 489B and 489C of the IPC, he added.

“According to him, he had got these forged currency notes from a relative of his who stays at Bilaspur to repay a loan. His relative had got it from Nagpur. He had got it by paying Rs 20,000. Further investigation is underway,” the SP stated.
