Rs 6,690.86 Cr Spent On KALIA Yojana, 104.60 Lakh Farmers Benefited: Minister

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has spent Rs 6690.86 crore as assistance to small and marginal farmers and landless agricultural families under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) Yojana during 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2020-21.

This was revealed by Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Minister Arun Sahoo in a written reply to a question by BJP member Nauri Nayak in the Odisha Assembly today.

Sahoo has said that a total of 104.60 lakh small and marginal farmers and landless agricultural families have been provided assistance under KALIA in the last three years by February this year.

Sharing the break-up, the Minister said that in 2018-19 and 2019-20 fiscals, 51.05 lakh small and marginal farmers and landless agricultural families were provided with assistance and for the purpose, a sum of Rs 2175.66 crore was spent towards financial assistance to farmers and administrative expenses in 2018-19 and Rs 3243.01 crore was spent in 2019-20.

Again in 2020-21, 53.55 lakh small and marginal farmers and landless agricultural families have been provided with assistance at an expense of Rs 1272.19 crore by the month of February.
