Bhubaneswar: Fake currency notes of Rs 200 denomination with the face value of Rs 7 lakh were seized with the arrest of two persons in Kharavel Nagar area of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
The accused have been identified as Satyanarayan Prusty and Bhola Pradhan. Prusty is a fraudster who used to dupe job aspirants by posing as a high-level official since 2020.
After Pradhan came in contact with Prusty, they learned the technique of printing fake currency notes. Subsequently, they bought some accessories and started printing the fake currency notes.
Prusty used to target people and exchange the fake currency notes of Rs 200 denomination with real ones.
A complaint in this regard had been lodged by one Bismaya Kumar Hota, who had paid Rs 75,000 to Prusty for getting a job and had exchanged Rs 3.5 lakh of genuine notes with the fake ones. Similarly, another person had exchanged around Rs 12 lakh of genuine notes with fake notes.
Based on the complaint, a special squad team was formed and both the accused were nabbed.
