Koraput: Cash amounting to Rs 9 lakh was seized from a passenger at the Jeypore Airport on Wednesday by a flying squad comprising of Executive Officer of Jeypore Municipality Sidharth Patnaik and BDO Shakti Mohapatra.
According to reports, cash amounting to Rs 9 lakh was seized from astrologer Manoj Lenka while he was scheduled to board the 3.30 PM flight to Bhubaneswar. Lenka claimed that the amount was paid by Malkangiri businessman Santosh Mishra towards his fees.
The flying squad after interrogating Lenka and Mishra let them go while seizing the money. The cash was counted at the airport in the presence of a local GST official. Flying squad officials have asked Lenka and Mishra to submit proper documents against the seized cash.
