Bhubaneswar: A Vigilance Court on Thursday sentenced a retired CDPO to four years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a bribery case.
According to an official press release, Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani convicted retired CDPO Kantamal block in Boudh district Jashobanty Behera for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant to pass chhatua bill and sentenced her to undergo RI for a period of four years.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Behera.
The court ruled that in default of payment of fine Behera has to undergo further RI for a period of six months more for the offence under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) of PC Act 1988.
Further, convict Behera was sent to jail custody to serve her sentence.
On the other hand, Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Behera following her conviction.
