Bhubaneswar: Rotarian Jayashree Mohanty was installed as the first Lady Governor of RI District-3262 by the senior most Past District Governor and Former Chief Information Commissioner of Odisha Rtn DN Padhi in the presence of the Chief Guest Minister Priti Ranjan Ghadai.
Guest of Honour Sulata Deo, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. MP, Rajya Sabha Amar Patnaik also attended and wished Rtn Mohanty. Senior Government officials, Rotary District officials, Presidents and Secretaries of different Rotary clubs and dignitaries were present on the occasion at the Lok Seva Convention Hall on Saturday.
The newly appointed DG Rtn Jayashree Mohanty in her address elaborated on the theme of the Rotary year – Create Hope in the World. Congratulating the Rotary International President Gordon R Mcinally she echoed his words that spirit of connection and purpose should inspire every Rotary member.
She appealed to the Rotarians to extend their support to make the year more eventful and at the same time find time to help the needy and less fortunate ones in our society to make Odisha &India more vibrant and strong.
President Draupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik were also felicitated as a mark of reverence on the occasion.
The first Gentleman PP Tanmay Mohanty declared the district projects and signed an MoU with the Indian Psychiatric Society, Odisha State Branch to Open a Helpline for mentally challenged patients across the state.
From Rotary Side Dr Pranab Mohapatra, Chair of Mental Health signed the MoU with Dr Amrit Patjoshi, President of Indian Psychiatric Society, Odisha State.
Executive President of Biju Mahaveer Jaipur centre, Ajay Agarwal also declared that Biju Mahaveer Jaipur centre to conduct joint camps with Rotary across the state to provide 1,000 free jaipur foot knee/limb to the poor and needy patients.
The launching of promotion of Clean Cooking through Ethanol based cooking gel stoves was also announced and samples were distributed.
The collar of the District Governor was exchanged between the Immediate Past District Governor Rtn Pravudutta Subudhi and the current District Governor Rtn Jayashree Mohanty at the ceremony.
The Rotary District website was launched and the Governor Monthly Letter was also released.
The programme was coordinated by Rotarians Dr Kumar Mohanty, Dr Tapas Kumar Das, Asish Sahoo, Prajakta Devroy, Reena Ravi Chander, Dharmendra Behera and other District Rotary officials.
The Rotary Foundation seminar was organized where the DG Jayashree Mohanty, Past DGs Ajay Agarwal, Debasish Mishra, Rabi Narayan Nanda and Past President Tanmay Mohanty shared their views and appealed to the Rotarians to contribute to the Rotary Foundation.
