Bhubaneswar: Amid allegations of large-scale corruption in offices of Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) across the State, Odisha government is mulling stringent action against officials who are in nexus with middlemen.
“We will ultimately identify/get to the corrupt officials/officers through dalals/middlemen who have been arrested,” informed Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera talking to newsmen here today.
The Minister hinted that action against corrupt officials can be even dismissals.
“Action includes everything. Doesn’t action include dismissal?” Behera asked newsmen who were insistently inquiring what action the Minister planned against corrupt officials in RTO offices.
On being asked what was the time frame for such action, he said:”Maximum by October.”
The Minister hinted that transfers were long overdue in his department and since Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings have been completed, the department is the process of drawing up a list for transfers.
