Bhubaneswar: A family from Bihar had a narrow escape this evening when the car they were traveling in caught fire on National Highway-16 near the Nayapalli Puja Pandal. The incident involved an S-Cross vehicle.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car suddenly burst into flames while driving on the highway. Fortunately, the occupants, including two women, managed to exit the vehicle safely before the fire fully engulfed it.
The car’s owner, Rohan Verma, along with his family, was en route to visit Udayagiri and Khandagiri caves when the mishap occurred.
As smoke began to pour out of the vehicle, the driver attempted to apply the brake, but it failed to respond. Acting quickly, the driver used the handbrake to stop the car on the road, allowing the passengers to safely exit moments before the car caught fire.
Fire personnel arrived promptly at the scene after receiving information and successfully extinguished the flames. While the car was completely gutted, no injuries were reported.
