Bhubaneswar: Acting on the directives of the DCP, Bhubaneswar, the Bhubaneswar Urban Police has launched the “Safe City Drive” campaign for the past few days with a view to controlling crime ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja festival.
The Bhubaneswar Urban Police have tightened the patrolling system in various police station areas. Officers and employees of various police stations and POPD and Team-60 are involved in patrolling, while the public is being cautioned against consumption of alcohol, various drugs, and other criminal activities including vehicle checking. Penalties are being levied where necessary.
The “Safe City Drive” campaign will continue on behalf of Bhubaneswar city police keeping in view the upcoming Durga Puja festival.
Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police have registered 1,513 open drinking (OUP) and collected fines to the tune of Rs 7,56,500; Rs 33,7000 for smoking in public places (COTPA) from 337 violators, Rs 40,000 as fine under MV Act 80, lodged 37 Excise cases and seized 584.41 litres of alcohol.
In addition, the Commissionerate Police have made 27 arrests and arrested 89 property offenders and 31 anti-social elements.
The total fine collected from these offenders is to the tune of Rs 8,30,3000 and another Rs 43,69,000 was collected as fines for traffic violations under various police stations in the capital city.
