Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi participated in the State-level Bravery Day and Saheed Madho Singh’s memorial service at Ghens in Bargarh district. He announced a Rs 6.26 crore memorial for the martyr, including a statue, welcome marquee, and a community center.
The state government will develop Shaheed Madho Singh’s birthplace under the Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana, with a Rs 15 crore investment. Ghens College has been renamed Shaheed Madho Singh Memorial College, and a Rs 4.40 crore girls’ hostel will be built.
Majhi praised Madho Singh’s sacrifice, saying it’s rare in India’s history. He highlighted the state’s commitment to developing the birthplaces of eminent persons and introducing their contributions to the new generation.
The ‘Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha scheme aims to prevent school drop-outs among tribal students, providing Rs 5,000 assistance. The CM emphasised developmental work in Ghens, with schemes like Subhadra Yojana and Laxpati Didi benefiting locals.
He further said that the Ghens area also has a stake in the roadmap prepared for a developed Odisha for 2036. Therefore, the Chief Minister called upon the people of this area to follow the path of the great sons and ascetics of the area and to maintain a dedicated attitude towards their motherland and make their strong contribution to the creation of a developed India and prosperous Odisha as dreamed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
After the programme, the Chief Minister met Shahid Madho Singh’s family at his residence.
