SAI International Alumni Pay Tributes To Bijaya Kumar Sahoo, Propose Govt To Name Road After Him

Bhubaneswar: The alumni of SAI International paid tributes to the Group Chairman Dr Bijaya Kumar Sahoo, who passed away at 58 on June 3. The Memoriam was held digitally and broadcast on the youtube channel of SAI International group on June 26.

Earlier on June 22, the Alumni of SAI International had invited sand artist Manas Sahoo to dedicate a sand art to the visionary educationist. Sahoo was also the Advisor of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS).

Sand art being a part of the rich culture of Odisha was very close to Sahoo’s heart. The alumni decided to pay an ode to their Chairman’s contribution in their lives and also in the lives of the students and alumni of OAVS with the sand art.

The Memoriam on Saturday began with ‘Guru Vandana’, followed by a minute of silence being observed during the session.

Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb, Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairman Subroto Bagchi, Minister Samir Ranjan Dash, Rajya Sabha MP Amar Pattnaik, CBSE Chairman Manoj Ahuja, ACS Health PK Mohapatra, School and Mass Education Secretary Satyabrata Sahu, Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Singh, Tourism Secretary Vishal Dev, Former Union Education Secretary Anil Swarup, Assistant Director, British Council Ritticka Patrick, friends and family, shared their memories of Sahoo.

The SAI International Alumni proposed to the Chief Minister to name the road connecting Patia Chowk and Infocity Square to be named as ‘Bijaya Path’ as respect to the visionary educationist and Founder Chairman SAI International Education Group Late Dr Bijaya Kumar Sahoo.

“This is also in reference to a message shared by the Governor of Odisha Prof Ganeshi Lal in the ceremony organised by the alumni, where he said, ‘If the convention allows and permits, how I wish that any road leading to SAI International be named Bijaya Path or Bijaya Marg’,” the SAI International Group stated.

“Keeping these gracious words in the mind of the Governor, the alumni have requested the Government of Odisha to take this into consideration and action,” the school authorities stated.

“He was the epitome of benevolence, who had deeply invested in the educational growth of the community, society, and country. He embraced and welcomed change, and adapted to new and improved ways of managing and running the school at all times. Whether it was ensuring a healthy environment with spotless hygiene, nutritious meals for the students, medical care on-call, or using technology effectively for the benefit of students, Dr Bijaya Kumar Sahoo was always at the forefront of delivering the best service to humanity,” the Alumni stated.

Speaking at the session the Chief Minister said, “Dr Bijaya Sahoo was a leading educationist of the state. Whenever we met he always spoke of improving the quality of education. He was instrumental in tying up coaching classes or Xth and plus two students of OAVs and he will be terribly missed by his students. He played a pivotal role in making SAI International one of the leading schools in the country. His SAIoneers will miss his mentorship and guidance. I join all of you in paying respect to Dr Sahoo. Your hard work and success will always make him proud.”

“Dr Sahoo was a selfless person, overall a distinguished person, who will be missed deeply. He was a Guru to all in very many ways. Apart from being the Chairman, he was a loving and benevolent silent teacher, an able administrator. He was also a humble human being, who could connect at a spiritual level for happiness, peace and realize all his dreams. A great loss to our community. No individual can replace his position as the beloved Chairman Sir that he was,” the Alumni further stated.
