SAI International Concludes SAIMUN 2024 With A Call For Global Collaboration

Bhubaneswar: SAIMUN 2024 set the tone of diplomacy and deliberations on the 26th and 27th of July, with the opening ceremony graced by Governor of Odisha, Raghubar Das, as the chief guest. Today, the closing ceremony witnessed the presence of Chandramouli Guha, National Information Officer, United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan as the chief guest.

According to an official press release, SAIMUN stands as a global hub where diverse minds converge, creating an unparalleled platform for collaboration and innovation.

In SAIMUN’24 visionary leaders, critical thinkers, and problem solvers from every corner of the world came together to engage in dynamic discussions, spirited debates, and constructive negotiations. This collaborative environment fosters the development of pragmatic solutions to complex transnational challenges, culminating in the creation of impactful resolutions. Through active participation in SAIMUN’24, delegates gained invaluable insights into global issues, learning to navigate diverse perspectives and transcend narrow national interests.

In her speech, during the closing ceremony of SAIMUN 2024, Dr Silpi Sahoo, Chairperson, SAI International Education Group, shared, “By participating in SAIMUN, students get a deeper grasp of international concerns, lobbying, and negotiations. Here, they get the opportunity to interact with students from all around the world, and through this, they gain confidence and improve their 21st century learning techniques. Congratulations to all of us for successfully hosting SAIMUN’24, our dedication shows our commitment to provide our students purposeful education.”

Today, in the Global Village, where representatives from many cultures and backgrounds assembled to participate in meaningful conversation and cooperation, the delegates from AISEC, SIS, Uganda, and Sri Lanka presented their culture through their activities.

The SAI Tribune 2024, the conference’s official newsletter capturing the essence and breadth of the event’s discussions, which includes articles, delegate profiles, and event information of SAIMUN 2024 was released in the closing session by Chief Guest Chandramouli Guha. Spearheaded by the Executive Board of the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA), the SAIMUN Tribune highlights its commitment to ensuring comprehensive and timely coverage of the conference proceedings. During his address, Guha shared, “It is a pleasure to see that SAIMUN brings together young minds from around the world and gives an opportunity to them to share ideas on important social issues. In today’s time, these types of events are important to help the future generations to understand global challenges and appreciate different cultures.”

In SAIMUN’24, the delegation discussed the contemporary global issues, such as – ‘Evaluating the Legitimacy and Effectiveness of Global Arms Trade Treaties’, ‘Ensuring Access to Education during times of widespread War

Crimes, World Hunger, Pandemic and Breakdown of Healthcare Institutions’, ‘Responding to Escalating Tensions in a Fictional Region and Crafting a Comprehensive Peacekeeping Resolution’, ‘Debating the Balance Between National Security and Civil Liberties in Anti-terrorism Measures’, ‘Promoting Sustainable Development in Post-Conflict Regions and Ensuring Inclusive Recovery’, ‘Addressing the impact of conflict on Children’s safety and well-being in the Israel-Palestine Region’, ‘Achieving Gender Parity in Leadership Positions and Closing the Gender Pay Gap (SDG 5 – Gender Equality)’, ‘Addressing the Link Between Drug Abuse and Mental Health (SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being)’, ‘Addressing Biodiversity Loss and Ecosystem Degradation (SDG 15 – Life on Land)’ and ‘Addressing Press Freedom and Journalist Safety in Conflict Zones and Repressive Regimes’).

Today, in the first half the students participated in a noble activity as well, by visiting Jeevan Jyoti Ashram, an orphanage in Khandagiri near Jaydev Vatika with 40 female inmates. At the Ashram, they conducted an activity of using plastic waste to create decorative planters for indoor and outdoor plantations. They also donated groceries and a few other items to meet the immediate needs of the ashram.
