Bhubaneswar: The SAI International School officially inducted its Student Council for the academic session 2024-25 during the Investiture Ceremony held on Saturday (July 20, 2024) at the Indraprastha Auditorium.
The occasion was graced by Col Rohit Singh, Sena Medal Commanding Officer, 120 Infantry Battalion (TA). The investiture ceremony began with a soul-stirring rendition by the School Choir, which set a dignified tone for the ceremony, and, featured the badge pinning segment, during which the newly appointed student leaders received their badges, symbolizing their roles and responsibilities.
The moment marked the beginning of their journey in upholding the school’s cherished legacy of leadership and excellence. The Head Boy, Head Girl, House Captains, Vice Captains, Sports Captain, Cultural Secretary, and council members took an oath to honour the school’s values and ethos, continuing a proud tradition of service and commitment to the betterment of the student community.
SAIoneers Ayushman Thakur and Sivakshi Dixit were declared the Head Boy and Head Girl for the academic session 2024-25. All council members pledged to carry out their duties with diligence, responsibility, and dedication.
The Chief Guest, Col Rohit Singh, congratulated the student leaders and emphasized the importance of leadership roles. He assured the students who didn’t make it this time that they will have opportunities in the future. He mentioned that their current responsibilities will help them facilitate and discharge their duties effectively later on. While addressing the SAIoneers, he also shared his experiences from the army.
Dr. Silpi Sahoo, Chairperson, SAI International School, addressed the students with an empowering message: “The Investiture Ceremony at SAI International has set a benchmark for nurturing leaders capable of translating their vision into reality. The school has placed its hope, faith, and mantle of responsibility upon the newly appointed student cabinet today. Remember, joining the student council is not merely about assuming roles; it is about embarking on a transformative journey to become visionary leaders who drive meaningful change. This role will equip you with skills and experiences that extend well beyond the classroom, shaping your future endeavours in college, professional environments, and beyond.”
She emphasized on the leadership lessons to learn from George Washington, with focus on the 3Ds: discipline, determination, and dedication, which are central to any student council.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the Director Academics and Senior Principal, Nilkantha Panigrahi, followed by the national anthem. This ceremony signifying the reliance and confidence that the school consigns in the newly office bearers was held with great enthusiasm and dignity in the school premises and will remain etched in the hearts of those who were a part of this memorable occasion.
