**Paradip:** A sailor of Indian bulk carrier vessel APJ JAD went missing after he reportedly skidded off the ship at the anchorage area of Paradip Port today.
The sailor was identified as S Venkata Suryanarayana, a resident of Dwarakanagar in Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh. He was last seen on the vessel at around 1 pm after having his meals.
However, as Venkata was not found in his cabin till 5 pm, his fellow crew members reported the matter to Captain of the ship.
After preliminary investigation, the Captain apprised the Port’s Control Room about the missing sailor following which the Control Room alerted a searching boat and SB Java patrol boat of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Later on, unable to trace Venkata, the patrolling parties sought the help of the Indian Coast Guard. As per latest reports, the search operation is still underway.
As per sources, the bulk carrier had arrived at the Paradip Port with thermal coal, which is mainly used in power generation.
