Bhubaneswar: Keeping in mind the soaring heat wave conditions, the Sambalpur district collector on Thursday declared new timing for schools.
As per the latest instruction, schools both private and government to hold classes between 6.30 am and 10 am.
Also, the district administration has imposed restrictions on the working hours of daily labourers. The daily wage earners have been advised not to work between 11 am and 3.30 pm.
The administration has also issued an advisory for the hospital authorities in the district. They have been asked to open sunstroke wards to provide immediate service to sunstroke patients.
The Block Development Officers, Tehsildars, District Education Officers, and Block Education Officers have also been told to open water kiosks and supply water through tankers at places witnessing water shortage problems.
Earlier, the School and Mass Education department directed primary, secondary and higher secondary schools including private institutions to hold morning classes from 7 am to 11.30 am from April 2.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrata Sahu also wrote to all district collectors asking them to take immediate measures to mitigate the hot and humid weather and ensure zero casualties due to the possible heat wave condition.
