Sambalpur: The Odisha government has announced revised working hours for government offices in Sambalpur to mitigate the effects of the ongoing heatwave.
Effective immediately, offices will operate from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM without a lunch break until June 15. This change aims to provide a more comfortable working environment for government employees during the extreme temperatures.
Amidst the scorching heatwave conditions, office timings have been revised to ease the burden on office goers. As the afternoons are usually the hottest, ending the workday early aims to reduce exposure to the scorching sun.
“In pursuance of Order No. 14883/dated 04.04.2006, Govt of Odisha, Home Department, the State Government Offices, Revenue, and Executive Magistrate Courts shall be held this year on working days from 7 AM to 1 PM without a lunch break from 10th of April to 15th of June in Sambalpur District”, read the letter issued by the Odisha Home Department’s Order No. 14883, dated April 4, 2006.
“Hence all concerned officers and staff are directed to attend their respective offices in the above stipulated time period fixed up by the Government of Odisha during the Summer season,” the letter further mentioned.
As Sambalpur district teeters on the edge of a severe heatwave, the state government’s revised working hours offer a much-needed respite. With the mercury showing no signs of dropping, this move is set to bring relief to the office-goers.
