Sambalpur: The district police busted an inter-state ganja trading racket with the arrest of the kingpin, identified as Susant Kumar Lenka. Superintendent of Police Battula Gangadhar said, Parida, a physically disabled man, had been running the mafia over the past eight years.
“He managed to evade arrest as he supplied the contraband to Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand. The accused ensured not to supply ganja in Sambalpur or any district in Odisha,” said Gangadhar. Lenka has amassed a lot of property with the ill-gotten money, which is also under surveillance.
During the recent raid by Sambalpur police, total 4 quintals ganja was seized from the possession of the dealer. So far, there has been no case against Lenka, however, this time he has been booked under relevant Sections of the NDPS Act and remanded to judicial custody. The police is likely to seek his remand.
