Bhubaneswar: Sambalpur police released photographs of two accomplices involved in the robbery from the office of Manappuram Gold Loan at Budharaja Main Road, on Wednesday.
Apart from releasing the photographs of two other accomplices, police also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for any information leading to their arrest.
Meanwhile, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Sambalpur Police have arrested a notorious dacoit, Ashok Paswan, in connection with the bank robbery.
The arrest was made on Monday evening when Ashok was trying to flee the city. He was caught by the RPF at the Sambalpur Railway Station while trying to board a train.
According to police sources, Ashok was one of the masterminds behind the robbery at the Manappuram Gold Loan office in Sambalpur on January 3. Further police investigation is underway to nab the other accomplices and recover the stolen amount.
It is pertinent to mention that on January 3 armed robbers broke into the office and assaulted the employees, leaving them injured. The robbers reportedly decamped with gold jewellery weighing 30 kilograms and cash after holding the employees and customers hostage at gunpoint. While 10 robbers with firearms and sharp-edged weapons looted the office, some of them reportedly stood guard outside the building.
