Sambalpur: In a significant drug bust, Sambalpur police on Saturday seized 30 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 3 lakh and arrested two men in connection with the case.
The arrested have been identified as Md. Fardeen Alam (22) and Md. Esharar (30), both residents under Dhanupali Police Station in Sambalpur district.
According to police, on November 1, 2025, at around 6.30 pm, acting on reliable information, a raid was conducted near the Forest Guest House, Deer Park, under the supervision of Inspector Indradeb Oram. During the operation, the accused were apprehended and the contraband seized, following due procedure under the NDPS Act.
Police are also investigating other associates, including Md. Kalo alias Sehenawaz, Md. Babu, and Md. Sarfaraz alias Madhu, all residents of Sunapali, for their possible involvement.
The seized brown sugar has been properly sealed and documented as per NDPS regulations.
The accused have been formally arrested and forwarded to court on Monday under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.
