Sambalpur: In a shocking incident, an Assistant Professor of Sambalpur University in Odisha has been suspended on charges of mental torture of a female colleague.
The action comes following a complaint lodged in this connection by a female colleague against Assistant Professor Dr Rajat Kumar Kujur of the Political Science & Public Administration Department.
According to an official order issued by the vice chancellor of the university, Dr Kujur has been placed under suspension with immediate effect. “During the period of suspension, Dr Kujur will get Subsistence Allowance at the rate equal to leave salary which he would have drawn had he gone on leave on half average pay or on half pay and DA based on such leave salary. However, no payment shall be made unless he furnishes a certificate that he is not engaged in any other employment, business, profession, or vocation,” read the order.
The headquarters of Dr Kujur is fixed at the office of the Chairman, PG Council, and he is not allowed to leave the headquarters without prior permission of the Registrar.
Moreover, the accused is not allowed to come to the Administrative building or any PG Department/Sections/Units including Prof. B. Behera Central Library of Sambalpur University without prior permission of the university authority. He will also not be allowed to attend any meetings of the university.
