Bhubaneswar: The same level of alertness should be maintained in the case of Omicron or any other variant of Covid-19, said Odisha Health Director Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohapatra on Wednesday.
Talking to mediapersons, Mohapatra said that an equal approach should be applied to tackle all variants of Covid-19 and it should be at both technical and the community level.
Under the technical aspect comes vaccination, surveillance and tracking and tracing of symptomatic cases.
In case of any surge in Covid-19, the paediatric age group are at risk as they are unvaccinated. In view of this, the State Government has strengthened paediatric management.
HDU and ICU wards have been set up in Community Health Centres & Primary Health Centres and health workers are being trained.
Mohapatra further informed that as per WHO and international experts, the transmissibility of Omicron is high but the severity is low and no fatality has been declared till date.
