Bhubaneswar: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Samir Mohanty was today elected unopposed as the new president of the saffron party’s Odisha unit.
The party’s Central observer Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar formally announced Mohanty’s election to the post of president of the party’s State unit.
Mohanty was the only candidate to have filed his nomination for the post.
According to a party source, Mohanty had support from district presidents and State party council members and was elected unopposed.
Mohanty was the vice president of the party’s State unit since 2016.
