Bhubaneswar: Renowned sand artist and Padma Shri Sudarshan Pattnaik was on Wednesday awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree at the 10th convocation of Sri Sri University in Bhubaneswar. Sudarshan Pattnaik received the degree from Sri Sri Ravishankar
Sudarshan was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour, in 2014 for his sand art and for spreading awareness on various issues through his art.
He has created numerous masterpieces spreading awareness, congratulating people for their achievements, or bringing to the notice of the public several core issues. He has created wonderful masterpieces advocating the use of greener methods to cut carbon footprints, congratulating Barack Obama on his famous win, and paying tribute to pop sensation Micheal Jackson.
Some of his other famous sculptures include the 100 Santa Clause sculptures for which he is a Guinness World Record holder, or creating a 25-foot Santa Clause for which he entered the Limca Book of World Records, and one got huge appreciation for building the Black Taj Mahal near the original marvel structure.
