Sand Artist Sudarshan Pattnaik’s Unique Creation Blends ‘Boita Bandana’ & Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup

**Puri**: With only a week left for the sporting extravaganza of ‘Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup, sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik has blended the event with the auspicious Odia ceremony of ‘Kartik Purnima’ to woo the denizens of the State.

Created on the golden sand beach of Puri, the sculpture perfectly depicts Odisha’s historic maritime glory along with its rise to the international level with the futuristic World Cup. Explaining the idea behind the art, Pattnaik said, “Just like several years back, our traders had created history by establishing splendid maritime connections with other nations, this year too history will be created in a similar way with the Hockey World Cup.”

Sculpted with the majestic Bay of Bengal in the background, the sand art has attracted several spectators who flocked to the site and proudly clicked selfies with it.
