Balasore: A Junior Mining Officer was critically injured after being attacked by the sand mafia during a raid at the Tribeni Sangam in Katha Sangada, Remuna, Balasore.
Officer Tapas Kumar Behera, accompanied by his driver and an assistant, had arrived at the site today following reports of illegal sand mining. During the operation, an organized group of sand mafia members launched an assault on the team.
Behera sustained a broken nose and chest injuries in the attack. He was rushed to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment.
The incident marks yet another display of audacity by illegal sand mining operators in the region.
