Sanitation Worker Dies After Falling Into Open Drain In Cuttack

Cuttack: Yet again another sanitation worker died while cleaning an open drain in Cuttack city today.

According to reports, a 27-year-old sanitation worker identified as P Narasingha died after slipping into the open main drain at Barapathar near Prabhat Cinema in the city.

Narasingha was engaged in desiltation of the drain by JICA on a daily wage of Rs 1,000. Though he was rescued from the drain by locals, he was found dead.

Police have seized his body and have sent it SCB Medical College & Hospital for autopsy.

Tension prevailed in the area following the tragic incident. Blaming JICA and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) authorities for the tragic incident locals blocked the road by burning old automobile tyres. The road block was vacated after intervention by the police.

It is pertinent of mention here that four days ago another person had died after falling into the open drain at Jhola Sahi in the city.
