Bhubaneswar: The Capital City witnessed widespread protests across various wards on Tuesday following an assault on Ratnakar Sahoo, Additional Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), inside the civic body office.
The incident occurred during a public grievance meeting on Monday, sparking outrage among sanitation workers who staged peaceful protests and halted services in several areas on Tuesday.
According to sources, sanitation workers in almost all wards of Bhubaneswar stopped work, refusing to sweep roads and collect garbage, causing noticeable disruptions in civic services.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Administrative Service Association (OASA) has called off its planned mass leave today, after Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi assured them of strict action against those responsible for the assault on Sahoo.
The CM met with OASA members late Monday night, along with top officials, including the Chief Secretary, DGP, Commissioner of Police, and Advocate General. Majhi assured the association that the perpetrators, regardless of their influence, would face stringent punishment under the law.
