Bhubaneswar: Sanjeev Kumar Chadha, a 1989-batch Odisha Cadre IFS, has been appointed as Additional Secretary Women & Child Development Ministry, Government of India. Recently Chadha was empanelled to the rank of Additional Secretary in the Government of India.
Recently, the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, Government of Odisha, issued a notification that reads, “In pursuance of Order No. 36/02/2023-EO(SMI-I) dated 11.06.2023 of Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Personnel and Training, Sanjeev Kumar Chadha, Principal Secretary to Government of Odisha, Cooperation Department with an additional charge of Director, Agricultural Marketing & Member Secretary, OSAM Board, and Chairman, OSWC, is relieved from the State Government w.e.f. 26.06.2023 (AN) to enable him to join his new assignment as Additional Secretary in the Women and Child Development Ministry, Government of India.”
Chadha has been serving as the Principal Secretary to Government of Odisha, Cooperation Department with an additional charge of Director, Agricultural Marketing & Member Secretary, OSAM Board, and Chairman, OSWC. During his tenure, the Agricultural Marketing department achieved a number of milestones following the 5T mantra of the Naveen Patnaik government.
An ace administrator, Chadha has played a crucial role in the Department of Co-operation (DoC) implementing the state government’s 5T Charter with new initiatives.
The notable achievements of the Cooperation and Agricultural Marketing departments include Rs 1 lakh interest-free loan to farmers, interest waiver on Rs 441.81 crore loans to farmers, and many more. Over 34 lakh farmers benefited from these initiatives.
Earlier, Chadha held the office of the Managing Director of the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED).
Holding a Master’s degree in Zoology and Forestry with a doctorate in Zoology, Chadha has worked extensively on issues related to the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources in Odisha. He has worked in various sectors, including health, social development, and empowerment of Scheduled Castes and Tribes.
Chadha is credited with introducing hi-tech horticulture in Odisha. He worked extensively with small and marginal farmers and introduced new crops like bananas, guava, vegetables, etc., besides working on strengthening the Agri-value chain to increase the returns for the farmers.
