Sambalpur: Villagers of Sapalhara under Padiabahal forest range today held a yagna along with a recital of Vishnu Sahasra Nama for the salvation of the soul of the bullet-ridden tusker that died on June 21.
The villagers organised the yagna at the local Shiva temple.
As many as 15 pandits (priests) of the Padiabahal Anchalik Pandit Sangh took part in the yagna and pooja.
Several locals participated in the religious programme.
A 4-inch bullet was recovered from the wound on the body of the ailing tusker that died on June 21 after remaining stuck in the muck inside a pond at Sapalhara village under Padiabahal range in Sambalpur district for four days.
