Bolangir: A sarpanch was beaten up by an official of the Public Works Department after he alleged sub-standard works of some projects being undertaken by the government under 5T model of governance in Harishankar of Bolangiri district.
PWD SDO Shridhar Das went to Harisankar to supervise the works of various projects. At this time, Sushil Guru, Sarpanch of Changaria Panchayat, reached the spot and alleged shoddy construction.
The SDO got angry and warned the Sarpanch to refrain from interrupting in the matter. An argument ensued between the two which took an ugly turn after SDO beat the sarpanch black and blue.
The video of the entire scene went viral on social media.
Local people present there rescued the sarpanch from the clutches of the SDO.
Locals condemned such behavior of SDO. After receiving the information, local police reached the spot and brought both SDO and Sarpanch to Khaprakhol police station for questioning.
Both filed separate complaints with the police following the police arrested both of them.
