Sarpanch Killed By Maoists In Odisha Suspecting To Be Police Informer

**Koraput**: A Sarpanch was allegedly killed by the Maoists in Odisha’s Koraput district over the suspicion of being a police informer, late on Monday night.

The Sarpanch named Jagannath Khara (42) was the head of Hatibari village under Nandapur block.

It is alleged that the Sarpanch was called out of his house late at night and around 40-50 red rebels were waiting for him. They reported tied his legs and hands before slitting his throat.

Moreover, a motorcycle, jeep and a tractor of the Sarpanch were also set afire. The red rebels left a handwritten letter near the body and looted his house before leaving the spot.

His body was found this morning by the police who have started its investigation.
Notably, the Sarpanch had received many threats from the Maoists, who had warned him against helping the police.
